To Listen;
To Teach;
To Resolve.
This is how Cris views her duty to clients. She is an active listener as clients describe their particular problems. She explains the options available under the law. And working with the client, she guides them to a resolution appropriate to their circumstance. With experience gathered over 30 years of practice, primarily in the field of estate planning and administration and elder law, Cris is often a lecturer for the NYS Bar Association and other CLE providers. She enjoys speaking to community groups, and has been a part of the Legal Project’s WTEN Legal Helpline, answering legal questions on topics of estates, trusts and Wills.
Educated at Middlebury College and Albany Law School, Cris is a Past President of the Schenectady County Bar Association. In addition, she chairs the Grants Committee of the NY Bar Foundation, the charitable branch of the State Bar which makes grants to not-for-profit organizations furthering some aspect of the law in NYS.
Cris believes in volunteerism. She is serving her third term as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Ellis Medicine and is also a Trustee and founding member of the Foundation for Ellis Medicine. In addition, Cris is a former Schenectady County Legislator serving from 1995 to 2005 and served as minority leader for 3 years. She has served on the Board of Directors of many Capital District NFP organizations.
Cris has received a variety of community awards over her career, including awards from both the American Cancer Society and the Lung Association of Northeastern NY for her tobacco prevention efforts; the Susan B. Anthony Award of the Schenectady County League of Women Voters and the Mohawk Pathways Girl Scout Council’s Woman of Achievement, among others.
Cris is especially proud of 2 honors awarded to the firm: the 2001 Carol S. Knox Family Friendly Award, given by the Capital District Women’s Bar Association in recognition of its family friendly employment policies, and the 2006 Enterprise of the Year award given by the Chamber of Schenectady County.
